Report from the meeting: 09/11/2009 Held at Maribyrnong City Council Offices, Napier Street Footscray In Attendances: Andrew & Pam Clifton (A.C) – Community Valerie Gemmell (V.G) – Community David Barnes (D.B) – Marstel Terminals Coode Island Tim Gunning (T.G) – Marstel Terminals Iris Carlin (I.C) – Marstel Terminals Theo Pykoulas (T.P) – Maribyrnong City Council Betty Creighton – Minute Taker Apologies: Jeff Hibbert (J.H) – Marstel Terminals Ian Rice (I.R) – Marstel Terminals Coode Island David Barnes welcomed everyone and explained the night’s agenda. Business Arising From Previous Meeting Local Planning Application updates Student Accommodation – Napier Street TP to update. VG to discuss at next mtg. Lot B 200 Stephen St Yarraville No update available. 131-133 Hyde St – Apartments with Balconies and 182 Cowper St 37 objections received during advertised period. Matter heard at VCAT on Sept 14 – awaiting decision. Maribyrnong Precinct (Cotton Mills area) possible rezoning. No update available, discussions ongoing between Worksafe, Council and community groups regarding the buffer zones. IR to update at next mtg. Environmental Improvement Plan updates. 1.2 – Completed Sept 09 during shipping. Results well within EPA licence. 2.2 – Two discharges to river during Aug-Nov. 3.1 – No returns to BTX tank during Aug-Nov. Operations Report DB presented the highlights of the Coode Island operation over the past three months and expanded on some points. - Huntsman Chemical Company announced closure of whole plant located at West Footscray. - Emergency exercise conducted on Coode Island with very good results. - No. 1 Maribyrnong Wharf refurbishment project to commence during November. Other Business Emergency Warning System TP informed the meeting that the council emergency telephone contacts would be used for the trial Emergency Warning System later this month. Marstel Site Updates TG gave an update on the new Port Alma facility which received its first ship today. Before and after photographs to be presented next meeting. TG also gave a brief update on the Bundaberg and Newcastle sites. Utilities VG would like to see Quarterly usage figures for Gas, Electricity and Water. Next meeting will be 8th February, 2010 at 5.45pm
