Marstel's Newest Terminal
| Marstel Terminals newly built terminal located in the port of Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, received its first bulk liquid cargo from the Dorval line ship M/T Golden Wave on the 23 July 2008. Four grades of vegetable oil were discharged successfully at rates exceeding expectations. Tanker truck load-out operations commenced simultaneously with some twenty-five tankers loaded in the first day of operations. |
The new terminal has been constructed over the last twelve months and features eleven new tanks totalling 11,500m3 of storage. The majority of tanks are heated and insulated and suitable for the storage of a wide variety of products. Five new stainless steel pipelines run the short 220 metre distance to the Port of Tauranga common user liquids berth. A high throughput three-bay truck loading and unloading gantry sits alongside the fist phase tankage development. | |
 | Further ship discharges over the next few weeks will introduce class 6 and 8 products to the facility. Preliminary design has already been undertaken in anticipation of growing demand for further tankage including class 3 flammable product storage.
